About Dora The Explorer
Dora the Explorer is a half-hour animated children's television program starring a 7-year-old Latina little girl with her friends. The program is designed to actively participate preschoolers in a play-along, computer-style adventure.
In each event, Dora invites young audiences to be part of her on an adventure or an exploration with a clearly defined goal by the end. Applying Map to highlight the stops on the way, Dora and the audience must eliminate problems and eliminate obstructions on the way to their goal. By the end of each and every episode, Dora, the audience, and Dora's mates, enjoy with Dora's signature "We Did It" dance.

The Characters

1. Dora

With her delight in being bilingual, her respect for her older people, her growing understanding of her tradition and heritage, and also her adore for storytelling and melodies, Dora embodies the Latina spirit.

2. Boots
Boots is a five year old furry monkey and also Dora's closest friend. He's like a worshipful younger brother. Sweet and caring, he enjoys to hold Dora's hands. Unlike Dora, Boots sometimes tends to make wrong choices and then becomes discouraged. Whenever he is feeling down, he always bounces back quickly with one of his flips. Nobody can make Dora have fun the way Boots can. He's the best buddy you always wanted.

3. Backpack
Backpack is a good friend who accompanies Dora on all of the her adventures. Similar to Dora, Backpack can easily speak either Spanish and English. Backpack is a true go-getter with a can-do spirit. As Backpack states in her signature melody, "Anything that you might need, I've got inside for you." From binoculars to sticky tape, Backpack's loaded up with every thing Dora might need for her quest--though it's up to the viewers to pick out the item which will solve the problem at hand.


4. Maps
A humorous, bouncy rolled-up Map that lives inside Backpack's side pocket and peeks away any time we call "Map!" Map tells us English which is an incredibly useful helper for our junior explorers simply because he always knows where to go and how to achieve that. The moment Dora asks us to check the Map for directions, he plots out our journey with an easy image that shows our route.

5. Swiper The Fox
Swiper is a quick, sneaky fox who attempts to swipe things that Dora needs to accomplish her search. From delicious snacks to Boots' boot - if it's valuable, Swiper really wants to swipe it. Then he hides it. Swiper serves an important curriculum role, since he always sets up our unseen image games. Swiper is also a master of disguise and it isn't easy to catch him. In fact, the merely way to stop Swiper before he swipes something is for Dora, Boots along with the audience to call out, "Swiper, no swiping!" three times.
